Payee verification (VoP) is becoming increasingly important for treasury departments – as evidenced by the numerous letters we have received from our members. This is hardly surprising, as 9 October is drawing nearer and the situation is still not entirely clear.

In light of current regulatory developments – such as the BaFin approval or the new one Clarification 120a – this raises the question of how companies are dealing with these requirements, what role banks play in this, and why the issue Opt-in is so relevant in the context of liability issues.
