Cash & Liquidity division

The Cash & Liquidity department is dedicated to the central challenges surrounding liquidity, cash flows and treasury organisation. The focus is on practical topics such as cash and liquidity management, working capital, technical platforms and the design of efficient processes and structures.

The department brings together a broad spectrum of expertise. Several active working groups continuously work on current practical issues and develop well-founded solutions and valuable output for VDT members.

The team consists of experienced corporate treasurers, supplemented by the expertise of supporting members and partners from the consulting and banking sectors. This broad expertise enables the department to pick up on developments on the financial markets, take into account impulses from digitalisation and classify regulatory changes.

The aim of the department is to provide VDT members with in-depth knowledge, market trends and practical solutions - always focussing on added value for day-to-day business and the strategic development of the treasury sector. The team uses a variety of formats - from specialist articles and online events to workshops and conferences.

Our working groups

Fraud prevention

The working group would like to provide impulses for suitable measures against fraud scenarios / cyber attacks / blackouts and show action concepts for prevention and emergency situations. Among other things, the focus will be on emergency plans and training concepts.

Crypto

The aim of the working group is to support our members with questions relating to crypto, digital currency, tokenisation and blockchain/DLT technology in the payment treasury world. We want to impart and share knowledge. We therefore provide information and define best practice standards and use cases for treasury.

Artificial intelligence (AI) in liquidity planning

The working group is planning an introduction to the topic of “artificial intelligence (AI) in liquidity planning” and would like to highlight the utilisation requirements and advantages of AI-supported liquidity planning, among other things. Corporates, consultants and software providers will report on their experiences in interviews.

Potential uses of virtual accounts

The fields of application for virtual accounts are diverse and are often directly related to centralisation efforts. The working group deals with different concepts and use cases of virtual accounts, best-practice approaches as well as challenges and lessons learnt from implementation projects.

API - the interface of the future in treasury?

Open interfaces, or APIs for short, provide companies with a new technology for exchanging information. However, the technical and content-related standardisation of the interface is required. The working group aims to provide assistance and background knowledge in this area.

ePayments

Payment methods in e-commerce are constantly changing and expanding and, as a new component of payment transactions, represent a challenge for corporate treasury. The working group deals with the holistic utilisation of these e-payments - from IT and compliance to financial processes within the company.

Know Your Customer (KYC)

Building on the guidelines on the KYC process that have already been drawn up, contacts are now being established with other treasury associations in order to share the existing results and provide new impetus.

Regulation

The department takes part in consultations in order to take a position on behalf of Treasury, including on issues relating to developments in payment transactions and the corresponding regulatory framework. The current focus is on PSD2, instant payments and the digital euro.

Representation of interests

In order to address the concerns of treasurers in the area of cash & liquidity, the department regularly discusses payment transaction issues with representatives of banking associations and the Deutsche Bundesbank, among others. The association is also represented in the Deutsche Bundesbank's Payment Transactions Forum.

Digitisation of documentary foreign trade processing

We highlight the potential of digitalising documentary foreign trade processing for corporate treasury and provide an overview of the various providers on the market. In regular dialogue with stakeholders such as associations and committees, we advocate the implementation of this digital transformation.
