Deutsche Bundesbank/Payment Transactions Forum
In addition to regular dialogue with representatives of the Deutsche Bundesbank from the areas of payment systems, balance of payments statistics and oversight, we have been a member of the Deutsche Bundesbank’s “Payment Systems Forum” since March 2017. The Forum sees itself as a platform for open dialogue between providers and users in the Deutsche Bundesbank’s payments market and other institutions, and was established by the Deutsche Bundesbank in November 2016. The Payment Transactions Forum builds on the work of the SEPA Council, which fulfilled its mandate with the introduction of SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area).
European Association of Corporate Treasury (EACT)/International Group of Treasury Associations (IGTA)
VDT e.V. is a founding member of the EACT and is represented on its board by Peggy Schumm and Thomas A. Woelk, both members of VDT e.V. Membership ensures professional access to relevant information at European level.
Frankfurt School of Finance & Management
The Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is a leading private business school based in Frankfurt am Main. It operates regional education centres throughout Germany, as well as various joint ventures and programmes abroad. It offers high-calibre degree and continuing education programmes across a range of disciplines, and runs academic research centres and numerous international consultancy projects.
Since 2004, VDT e.V. and the Frankfurt School have been offering treasurers a professional development programme as part of the Certified Corporate Treasurer VDT® scheme. Since 2020, the VDT Summer School Treasury® has provided a further joint educational programme.
General Association of the Insurance-Taking Sector (GVNW)
As well as representing the interests of the business community as policyholders, the GVNW offers its members personalised advice on all insurance matters. All types of business are represented, from sole traders to multinational corporations. The GVNW operates entirely independently of commission-based interests; it neither brokers nor sells insurance policies. The range of services extends from reviewing insurance quotes and existing insurance policies, through assessing overall insurance cover, to providing support in the event of a claim. Through this partnership, the VDT is expanding its offering to include information on business insurance cover. The GVNW’s advisory services can be utilised by the numerous members of the VDT who are also represented within the GVNW.
Loan Market Association (LMA)
The LMA, based in London, was founded in 1996 and now has over 630 members from more than 60 countries, including, in particular, banks, institutional investors, law firms and credit rating agencies. The VDT has been registered as a courtesy member since early 2014.
The LMA’s aim is to improve liquidity, efficiency and transparency in the primary and secondary syndicated loan markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). By establishing sound market practices, the LMA aims to promote the syndicated loan as one of the most important debt instruments. As the leading voice of the syndicated loan market in the EMEA region, the LMA works closely with lenders, law firms, borrowers and regulatory authorities to convince the market of the benefits of the syndicated loan product. As a result of these discussions, the LMA published a European standard for syndicated loans and, in January 2015, standard documentation for private placements.
The Berlin Group
The ‘Berlin Group’ is a pan-European initiative for payments interoperability standards and harmonisation, with the primary objective of defining open and common standards – independent of specific schemes and processors – in the interbanking domain between the creditor bank (acquirer) and the debtor bank (issuer), complementing the work carried out by, for example, the European Payments Council. As such, the Berlin Group has been established as a purely technical standardisation body, focusing on detailed technical and organisational requirements to achieve this primary objective.
