Deutsche Bundesbank/Payment Transactions Forum
In addition to regular dialogue with representatives of the Deutsche Bundesbank from the areas of payment transactions, balance of payments statistics and oversight, we have been a member of the "Forum Zahlungsverkehr" of the Deutsche Bundesbank since March 2017. The forum sees itself as a platform for an open exchange between providers and users in the payments market of the Deutsche Bundesbank and other institutions and was founded by the Deutsche Bundesbank in November 2016. The Payments Forum follows on from the work of the SEPA Council, which fulfilled its mandate with the introduction of SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area).
European Association of Corporate Treasury (EACT)/International Group of Treasury Associations (IGTA)
The VDT e.V. is a founding member of the EACT and is represented on its board by Peggy Schumm and Thomas A. Woelk, members of the VDT e.V.. Membership guarantees professional access to relevant information at European level.
Frankfurt School of Finance & Management
Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is a leading private business school based in Frankfurt am Main. It maintains regional education centres throughout Germany and various joint ventures and programmes abroad. It offers challenging study and further education opportunities in various programme areas and runs academic research centres and numerous international consulting projects.
Since 2004, VDT e.V. and Frankfurt School have been offering treasurers a further training opportunity as part of the Certified Corporate Treasurer VDT® programme. The VDT Summerschool Treasury® has been another joint training programme since 2020.
General Association of the Insurance Industry (GVNW)
In addition to representing the interests of the insurance industry, the GVNW offers its members personalised advice on all insurance issues. All forms of business are represented, from sole traders to internationally operating groups. The GVNW works completely independently of commission interests; it neither brokers nor sells insurance policies. The catalogue of services ranges from the examination of insurance offers and existing insurance contracts to the assessment of overall insurance cover and support in the event of a claim. With this co-operation, the VDT is expanding its range of services to include information on company insurance cover. The advisory services of the GVNW can be utilised by the numerous members of the VDT, who are also represented in the GVNW.
Loan Market Association (LMA)
The LMA, based in London, was founded in 1996 and today has over 630 members from more than 60 countries, including mainly banks, institutional investors, law firms and rating agencies. The VDT has been registered as a Courtesy Member since the beginning of 2014.
The aim of the LMA is to improve liquidity, efficiency and transparency in the primary and secondary syndicated loan markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). By establishing sound market practice, the LMA aims to promote the syndicated loan as one of the most important debt instruments. As the authoritative voice of the syndicated loan market in EMEA, the LMA works closely with lenders, law firms, borrowers and regulators to persuade the market of the benefits of the syndicated loan product. As a result of these discussions, the LMA published a European standard for syndicated loans and, in January 2015, standard documentation for the private placements sector.
The Berlin Group
The ‘Berlin Group’ is a pan-European payments interoperability standards and harmonisation initiative with the primary objective of defining open and common scheme- and processor-independent standards in the interbanking domain between Creditor Bank (Acquirer) and Debtor Bank (Issuer), complementing the work carried out by e.g. the European Payments Council. As such, the Berlin Group has been established as a pure technical standardisation body, focusing on detailed technical and organisational requirements to achieve this primary objective.
