Covenants are often an integral part of many loan negotiations. They are frequently complex in structure and formulation, and only become truly significant in the course of business when there is a risk of a breach of covenant.

As part of a VDT online event held on Thursday, 14 November 2024, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm, we gave an introduction to these credit clauses. The three speakers – Charlotte Thesing, Tobias Jäger and Hajo Neugärtner, members of the VDT’s ‘Equity & Debt”, explained the practical basics of dealing with covenants and provided participants who were still inexperienced in this area with a structured introduction to the world of covenants.
