In a two-part podcast, we focus on the Australia and Oceania region. Germany is Australia's second most important trading partner in Europe after the UK. A free trade agreement between the EU and Australia, which has been under negotiation since 2018, aims to further strengthen economic exchange.

Some German companies are active in Australia, have project business, a subsidiary or even a production unit there. New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea are also exciting export markets for German companies. But what local challenges do the treasury departments of these companies have to contend with?

In this first part of the two-part podcast episode, we focus on the topic of cash management together with Alexander Spieker, Burkhard Grimm, Philipp Nies and Ender Tanar.

Alexander Spieker has worked for several years as an interim manager in the area of corporate treasury for medium-sized companies, has been a member of the VDT for more than a decade and has been active in the VDT's Risk Management department for many years.

Burkhard Grimm is Senior Vice President and Head of Group Treasury at Rheinmetall AG, a member of the VDT and has been active in the VDT's Asset Management division for many years.

Philipp Nies is Senior Treasury Manager in Middle Office Management at DHL Group.

Ender Tanar heads the German business of the ANZ Banking Group.

Sabine Paulus is Editorial Treasury Manager at VDT e.V.
