The current inflation trend in Germany has put the hedging of inflation risks back on the table for companies in this country. After a period of easing, the inflation rate rose noticeably again in March 2026 to around 2.7 per cent, which is above the European Central Bank's target value. The all-clear has not yet been given in April either. The inflation rate in Germany rose to 2.9 per cent in April.

In today's podcast episode, we want to look at why treasurers should consider inflation risks in their financial risk management, what options they have to hedge them and what costs are involved.

Dr Volker Anhäuser is a hedging specialist and has been working as a relationship manager at the French investment bank Natixis CIB since the beginning of the year. Prior to this, Dr Anhäuser, who holds a doctorate in economics, worked for the French bank BNP Paribas for almost 20 years.
