The Mentoring Programme for Young Professionals
Participation in the mentoring programme is free of charge.
The VDT stands for networking, knowledge transfer, professional development and advocacy for the treasury community in Germany! The VDT Treasury® Mentoring is designed to provide individual support for young professionals* and can be tailored freely and independently by the mentee and mentor as a pair. Through this programme, we promote both professional and personal development. Mentees also have the opportunity to expand their network beyond their own organisation. In line with the VDT’s guiding principle of ‘by treasurers, for treasurers’, the programme focuses on the exchange of experience regarding professional aspects of treasury between young professionals and experienced mentors at senior level within the treasury sector.
We firmly believe that nurturing and developing skilled staff plays a key role in the company’s long-term success. For this reason, we have launched a mentoring programme designed to support young professionals in realising their full potential.
Make the most of this valuable opportunity to benefit from the exchange of specialist knowledge, best practice and personal experiences.
Our mentoring programme offers a valuable opportunity to benefit from the experience and knowledge of seasoned treasury colleagues. It encourages the sharing of specialist knowledge, best practice and personal insights, thereby fostering individual growth and professional development.
Participation is free of charge and is open to mentees regardless of their employer.
*People up to the age of 35

The procedure
- Registration: Please log in to the registration area first (using the button below). Once your registration has been successfully verified, you will receive a personal registration link.
- Registration: Based on individual matching criteria, social, personal and structural factors – and, in particular, professional (treasury) interests – are taken into account to find the ‘perfect match’.
- Match: Once you have successfully registered, there is a chance of being matched. We will let you know as soon as a match has been made. You will then receive details about your mentee or mentor.
- Start: Once you have registered, the joint mentoring programme begins. Our recommendation: a programme lasting up to 12 months with 24 mentoring sessions, held every 14 days for approximately 1 hour, either in person or via video chat. As a tandem, you organise the number of meetings and the specific topics as required.
- VDT Service: Petra Sommerfeld is available to act as your point of contact and provide support. We offer regular ‘feedback sessions’ by arrangement. We are happy to provide documentation on specialist treasury topics.
- Mentoring Community: Where appropriate, the VDT offers a “MatchingAREA” as part of its events (online/in-person), which provides an opportunity for members to get to know one another, network and exchange ideas within the community.
The programme
During the matching process, both the mentor and the mentee specify a key area of expertise on which the mentoring is to focus.

Furthermore, it is explicitly not ruled out that other specialist topics may be covered during the course of the mentorship.
