Stablecoins: are cryptocurrencies that are pegged to specific reference values, such as fiat currencies (the euro, the US dollar, etc.), precious metals, commodities or similar assets. They correspond to a specific quantity of these ‘stable’ reference values and are therefore among the less volatile assets. Issuers of stablecoins are usually private organisations. Examples of stablecoins include Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Dai (DAI), PayPal USD (PYUSD) etc. (Publication date: 16 October 2020)
