Cryptocurrency (digital currency, programmable money, virtual currency): refers to the digital representation of a value. It is based on cryptographic tools, such as blockchain technology. Cryptocurrency is not issued or controlled by a central authority. Bitcoin (BTC) is the best-known cryptocurrency.  Other examples of cryptocurrencies with a large market capitalisation include Ether (ETH) and Ripple (XRP).
